As we step into 2024, bows are set to become one of the biggest trends for wedding cakes, and I couldn’t be more excited! Beyond being a visually stunning addition, these bows carry a deep symbolism with the intricate loops symbolising the coming together of two lives, beautifully intertwined in love and commitment. Perfect for a wedding cake!
I’ve got a quick and easy sugar bow tutorial for you today to make a pretty bow to add to your cakes.
First, thinly roll out some pink flowers paste using a CelPin. Cut out two long pieces of pink flower paste for the bow loops. Make sure these are double the length you’d like your bow loops to be. Next roll up two pieces of kitchen towel into tubes.
Apply edible glue to the ends of the paste and fold them over the tube of kitchen roll. Press the ends of the paste together to secure.
Make pleats in the centre of the bow loop by folding them concertina style. Repeat this process for the other bow loop.
Leave the bow loops to dry with the kitchen roll tubes inside, to hold the shape.
Cut out a small rectangle of flower paste and create three folds before wrapping around the middle of the bow. Glue in place.
Roll out paste and cut out two ribbon tails. Make pleats in the top part of each tail.
Once dry you can attach your bow to your cake using royal icing.
I hope you enjoy!
